The 2012 Childhaven Celebration Luncheon

Event raises over $624,000 to support abused and neglected children

Thank you to everyone who helped us raise over $624,000 at this year's Childhaven Celebration Luncheon! Your support helped us meet our matching gift challenge and will go a long way in helping provide healing, hugs and hope to the abused and neglected children in our care.

Author, playwright and keynote speaker Antwone Fisher (center in the photo to the left), whose early life was marked by years of child abuse, told the audience that he wonders what his own life would have been like if Childhaven has come to his rescue like it has for so many wounded young children in King County. “If there was a Childhaven in Cleveland where I grew up, I would not have had the difficult childhood that I had,” Antwone said. “There would have been someone to intervene in my early life.”

He encouraged supporters to strengthen their commitment to Childhaven, telling attendees, "My success is all due to good people like you, with big hearts for kids you may never meet, who will grow up to be someone positive in the community,” Antwone said. “When you think about all the great people who have made a mark on the world, some of those people are just waiting… they’re at Childhaven.”
