Meet a volunteer

Jeff thought about volunteering but was afraid he might be unable to handle the emotional impact of working with abused children.

“From the first minute I walked into the classroom, it was not tough at all,” says the Seattle real estate agent, who’s been volunteering for nearly four years.

Volunteer

Childhaven volunteers are essential in helping us carry out our mission to prevent the cycle of abuse and neglect.

Interested in volunteering?

There are many ways to help: at our events, at our branches and through your own fundraising efforts.

Help an individual child or family

Learn more about group or individual projects, including our Brighter Brithday and Adopt-a-Family programs that help a child or family.

Classroom volunteers

Our four branch locations welcome the loving care and attention of volunteers willing to commit to working in a classroom one day a week for a two hour period between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. for at least six months.

Classroom volunteers support our therapeutic child care program by assisting the therapeutic child care workers and providing additional nurturing for infants and preschool children.

Group volunteer Projects

As each branch has group volunteer project needs, they will be posted here.  If you don't see a project that fits your group, check back often as new projects will be added.

Youth Board

The Youth Board was created to give youth, ages 13-18, the opportunity to make an impact on the children and families we serve while gaining leadership experience and fulfilling service hour requirements.  Click here to learn more about our 2010-2011 Youth Board.

The application deadline for the 2011-2012 Youth Board has passed.  For more information, contact Randi Bagley.
