Meet Angie Adams, Therapeutic Child Care teacher
"I started at Childhaven (known then as Seattle Day Nursery) in 1984 as a high school student working my first summer job. I became a full-time employee in 1990.
Over the last 24 years, Childhaven has been much more than a job to me. It has been a source of support, inspiring me through difficult times in my life. My mother’s medical condition made it difficult for her to provide the kind of care she wanted to give her nine children. So I took on her role, as well as that of a foster parent to my 8-year-old cousin, whose mother was battling a drug addiction. Because of these hardships, I have always cared for people. I’ve always had the nurturing skills, compassion and love for others that I learned from my mom, who was a loving, caring and strong individual in spite of her illness.
That is how I knew I wanted to work for Childhaven and why I have continued to work here, as a dedication to my late mother, Aresina Adams. This is a place where kids know they are safe and cared for; this is a place where kids and parents can both hope for a better tomorrow."
