Thank you for attending our 7th Annual “Tackle Child Abuse” dinner and auction! And thanks to your generous donations that evening, we raised over $450,000 for the children and families that Childhaven serve. We are overwhelmed by this number as we know how challenging these times are for everyone. When all the contributions come in, we will surpass last year’s total, which is a great testimony to all of you that even during these times, you have opened up your hearts to help children who have been abused or neglected! We here at Childhaven and our Board of Trustees are humbled by your generosity.

2009 Events – Celebrating Childhaven’s Centennial
Childhaven's Centennial
Childhaven was founded in 1909 as the Seattle Day Nursery and, for almost 100 years, the care of children has been a singular focus. In the mid-1970's, after having operated as a traditional child care center for decades, the agency leadership recognized a grave need: a lack of services for very young victims of abuse and neglect. In 1977 - two years before the state of Washington mandated the reporting of child abuse - we initiated the nation's first therapeutically-based child care program for these vulnerable children. Supported by research that shows brain development is at its most critical between birth and five years of age, our work has met with resounding success.
