Carmen Rodriguez loves hearing back from her former Childhaven families.
“It’s so gratifying to see parents I’ve had on my case load give back in the way they felt supported at Childhaven,” she says. “I’ve had parents come back here to volunteer, mentor other parents in the community, even lead parenting support or domestic violence groups.”
Hired at Childhaven in 1993, Carmen worked 12 years as a case manager providing counseling, assessments, planning and referrals.
In 2006, she became Program Director of the Patrick L. Gogerty Branch in Auburn, where she is responsible for general oversight and supervision of staff, including social workers and case managers.
Carmen earned her Master of Social Work degree in 1992 from the University of Washington. She also has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle.
Childhaven’s people are the key to its success, says Carmen, who sees herself as a mentor and advisor to her employees, drawing on her more than 20 years experience as a counselor and social worker.
