TODD GEORGE
Program Director - Broadway Branch
What inspires Todd George to do what he does? That’s easy.
“The smile of a child,” he says. “I love witnessing the progress in a child who starts off afraid or angry and then in a month or two can say good morning, and then by graduation jumps into your arms for a hug.”
Todd, a licensed mental health counselor with a master’s degree in counseling, interned and worked as a teacher and play therapist at Childhaven in the early 1990s before taking a job at Ryther Child Center in Seattle, where he stayed for 10 years.
In 2003, he returned to Childhaven to become Program Director of the Broadway Branch. He manages services, supervises and trains staff, does community outreach and works directly with about half a dozen families.
Todd loves doing his part to “normalize the very chaotic lives” of the children at the Broadway Branch. Beyond that, the best part of his job is showing through success stories that vulnerable and abused children can survive and thrive with the right treatment and care.
It’s that care that has made Childhaven so successful, he says.
